Over the weekend, I stayed in Dublin for a concert. On the Sunday morning, I had a few hours to kill before getting the train back to Belfast, so I took myself off to Phoenix Park, the largest park in Europe, to see what birds it had to offer. I didn’t have all day, and given its size, I wasn’t able to cover an awful lot of it, however, I managed to take a few decent photographs. In the pond nearest the park gates there was a pair of rather timid Tufted Ducks, along with some Mallards, Coot and Moorhen. As I walked on, I noticed a Grey Heron fly into the top of a tree. I repositioned myself to see if I could spot it and when I did I noticed it was joined by another. I walked out as far as I had time for and wasn’t able to spot much more apart from a few Mistle Thrush, Blue Tits and other smaller birds. I also heard and briefly spotted a Goldcrest but was unable to get it in the camera. Here are my best photos, which are mostly of the Tufties. Although, I have included a nice shot of a Grey Squirrel. Nice to have a bit of variety!
